Your UBR rating is more than just a number. It is a comprehensive picture of your badminton ability, backed by data from every game you play. Dive into your stats, visualize your growth, and see exactly where you stand.
The Universal Badminton Rating uses an ELO-inspired algorithm similar to those in chess, tennis, and other competitive sports, but with one important twist: rating changes are based on expected outcome, not just win or loss.
For example, if a 5,000 rated player loses 21-19 to a 7,000 rated player, their rating will still go up. They were expected to lose 21-10 against a much stronger opponent, so keeping the score that close is over-performance. In our mixers and events we show a target graphic on every match so you can see exactly what your expected outcome looks like before you play.
UBR also calculates a separate tournament rating using a 10-game rolling average. This prevents players from sandbagging their main rating to slip into lower divisions at big tournaments, your tournament rating reflects how you have actually been playing recently.
We maintain separate ratings for singles and doubles, because your ability in each format can be quite different. This gives you an accurate picture of your skill in both disciplines.
See your rating journey at a glance. Interactive charts show your progress over weeks, months, or your entire playing history.
Every game you play on UBR is permanently recorded with full details. Your game history is your badminton diary, a complete record of your competitive journey that you can browse, filter, and analyze at any time.
Filter your history by opponent, date range, event, or game type. Want to see how you have performed in doubles this year? Or review all your games at a particular venue? Your game history makes it easy to find exactly what you are looking for.
UBR tracks your record against every opponent you have faced, but also with every partner you have teamed up with. See who you click with on the doubles court and which rivals you need to break through against.
Every event ends with awards for the standout performers, and your dashboard tracks lifetime milestones as you climb the leaderboards.
